It's that time of year again. Not the good time of year; it's the bad time of year when you think you are going to explode and you start to go to that dark place in your mind where you really don't think you'll make it to next semester. It is finals time. Final exams and final papers. Wooooooooohoooooo. Here are the 12 stages of finals craziness that you might be experiencing.

Stage 1: False sense of security.

You THINK you really don't have that much work. Maybe one final or two. Throw a final paper in there. You THINK you got this final season in the bag because nothing can be worse than last final season. Think again!

Stage 2: Denial.

There seems to be more work to do than anticipated. But no that can't be right. You are sure your professor will move the paper that's due Tuesday because you also have a lab report and final exam due that same day.

Stage 3: Panic.

You realize your professor is not moving anything and that you are on your own. You also realize that there is no way you can finish all of this work in one week.

Stage 4: Anger

Why would your professors all gang up on you like this?! And why do they all keep telling you to take care of yourself and get enough sleep? Uh, I would if I didn't have three finals coming up and two final papers to do!

Stage 5: Defeat

You have come to accept the fact that you are going to drop out of school and join the circus.

Stage 6: Resurgence!

You will defeat these finals!

Stage 7: False alarm.

You are back to stage 5: Defeat.

Stage 8: Actually getting down to business.

The library is your new home and you start to sing the Mulan theme song.

Stage 9: Overeating or under eating

Overeating to procrastinate or stress eating or under eating cause you are just so stressed.

Stage 10: Not showering

It happens to the best of us.

Stage 11: Sleep deprivation

You are unsure what day it is... or what year it is.

Stage 12: Victory!

You have successfully defeated another finals season!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
