Though there are many popular games and consoles out (the Nintendo Switch is selling out faster than Dear Evan Hansen tickets on Broadway), one game has remained a top seller for years now. "The Sims" is a game that allows the player to essentially "play God." You can create people, get them jobs, families, and fun hobbies. White the game is rewarding and fun, there can be lots of frustrating things too.
Here are a few of the best and worst things about being a Sim Guru!
1. WORST: When your Sims glitch.
Sims glitch all the time. Be it an arm that won't move or a baby that your Sim won't pick up, the game always seems to have issues. Every Sim Guru is thankful for the "resetsim" cheat, or else we'd be stuck - literally!
2. BEST: When your Sim reaches the top of their career.
Reaching the top of a career in The Sims require blood, sweat, and tears - or at least some simoleons and a lot of time! Having your Sim come home with the notification of a promotion can be the most rewarding thing.
3. WORST: When your Sim dies (especially by accident).
Just like in real life, Sims die. They can die of electrocution, drowning, or even death-by-cow-plant. When a Sim dies that you've played with for hours and hours, it can really blow.
4. BEST: When a new expansion pack comes out.
Many people count down the days until the new expansion comes out, and even download it the minute it is available. Nothing beats going into Create-A-Sim or Build mode and seeing all of the new amazing content!
5. WORST: When your Sim sets the house (and sometimes themselves) on fire.
Not only are they terrible cooks, now you have to deal with a little "insurance" check to cover the difference. Newsflash, a stove and two burnt counter-tops don't cost 500 simoleons.
6. BEST: The motherlode cheat.
Every Simmer has done it, and many Sim gurus live by it. It's an extra 50,000 simoleons to do whatever you want with! Build a house, by a TV, or maybe by that new restaurant or vet clinic you've been saving up for.
7. WORST: When "The Sims Has Stopped Working"
This is a nightmare, especially when you haven't saved the game. You can lose hours and hours of progress, which means you have to backtrack in your Sim's lives.
8. BEST: When you look at the family tree.
With a lot of hours playing and a lot of hard work, you can develop not just one large family, but generations and generations of loving families. It's great when they all hang out together!
9. WORST: When you move a new Sim into your household and they have no skills.
When your Sim gets married, especially later in their Sim life, it can be frustrating to start all over with a new family member! Some people cheat to advance their skills, but I usually have them go the stay-at-home parent route.
10. BEST: Having your Sim get married.
Though the emotions may not run as high as real weddings, Sim weddings sure are fun (and stressful!). It's nice to see your hard work pay off as two sims join together for life.
The Sims, be it any generation of the game, is a fun outlet for many people, and a great way to wind down after a long day. Though there can be frustrating moments, just like in life, the good moments outweigh the bad. So stop reading, and get to playing!
