A Thank You To The Odyssey

A Thank You To The Odyssey

Writing is something I have loved to do for a long time. I used to write stories as a kid, long extravagant stories I never showed anyone. I eventually threw them away because I did not like them and thought no one would want to read them. I wrote short stories for fun in high school and tried to have them published in our literary magazine. They never were. I didn’t know why they weren’t but I got discouraged and stopped writing for a while. Then I found the Odyssey.

The Odyssey was something I saw on Facebook and loved seeing all the relatable, funny and serious pieces that people had written. I wanted to be like them and have my writing out there for the world to see, to share my thoughts and feelings about anything and everything. I didn’t know how they got to do this and once I found out people on my campus were writing, I went searching for the answer. I was interviewed and turned away at first because they had too many “lifestyle writers” at the time but after a while, I got another chance.

I have only been writing for The Odyssey for a few months and unfortunately my schedule will no longer permit my extracurricular writing. But, in just these short months I have learned and gained so much from The Odyssey, so this is my thank you.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my views and my stories. Thank you for giving me a community of people who love to do the same thing I do and helps when I have writer's block. Thank you for letting me throw the contents of my crazy brain not only into a word document, but also onto the internet for everyone to see. Thank you for giving me professional experience with writing for a large social platform. I hope to do something like this on an even more professional level and this has given me a tiny foot in the door to that. I have loved writing for The Odyssey and I wish I could stay forever. But hey, after student teaching I’m sure I will have PLENTY of stories to write so who knows where those will end up.

And finally, Thanks for reading.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
