Everyone has experienced struggles in their lives in one way or another, some more severe than others.

Demetria Devonne Lovato, or as most people know her, Demi Lovato, has had her fair share of difficulties throughout her lifetime.

Despite the rough patches she has been through, today she speaks about her past to help bring awareness and inspire others who are struggling with their own issues, openly describing her own tough times.

Demi,

I want to thank you for having the bravery to inspire so many people with your story.

From writing your book, "Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year," to releasing your new album, Tell Me You Love Me, and making your documentary, "Simply Complicated," you have been nothing but open and honest about all the difficulties you have faced and lessons you have learned.

You show your fans how it is okay to not be perfect, and your flaws and experiences are what make you beautiful and unique.

You show us how perfectionism can be detrimental, and no one can be truly perfect.

You have to love yourself for who you are, and not let others get in the way of your goals for the future.

You take us on your journey through addiction, bipolar disorder, eating disorder, heartbreak, depression, and struggles of working in the music industry.

You even go as far as to explain how life’s difficulties have caused you to relapse with your eating disorder, which is something you are not proud of.

However, you always find a way to pick yourself back up and continue to inspire others battling their own demons. You show us that staying strong is our only option, and we need to fight for our happiness and health every day, refusing to let others bring us down.

You are living proof that no one is perfect, and sometimes, we slip up and make mistakes.

Finding the courage and strength to face and admit our problems is what matters most when life throws more curveballs at us, and how we decide to face these difficulties says a lot about who we are.

You show your fans that you have to face your fears and problems, not run away from them.

You also convey to us that it is okay to ask for help, which is something I personally struggle with.

You have taught me and your fans that you need to let people in and allow them to help you, as you cannot do everything on your own and constantly push others away.

Asking for help or relapsing is not a sign of weakness; rather, it is just the opposite, as it shows your strength and determination to overcome whatever life throws at you.

I wake up every morning reading a quote from your book to get me motivated and ready for another day.

It inspires me, and so many others, to keep pushing through our difficulties and never give up.

Things will always turn around and get better over time, you just have to be patient and love yourself for the time being.

You have taught us to be confident in who we are, love ourselves despite our insecurities, and never give up on our dreams.

You always stay true to yourself, encouraging others to not fear to express what makes them unique, and show us the importance of embracing and sharing our feelings.

Not only are you down to Earth and honest with your fans, but you constantly put us first. You always make sure to connect to us in your music, as well advocate for bullying and mental health, for these are struggles you have encountered yourself and so many of your fans can relate to.

You continue to persevere forward in your life, looking for new ways to make yourself and others find and feel the beauty that is already inside of them.

Between your interviews, Fabletics, or just promoting what you believe in, you continue to help others find their inner beauty and feel confident in their own skin.

Your honesty and devotion about sharing your journey and experiences have touched so many people’s lives, especially mine, and has given us the strength we need to overcome our own hardships.

Thank you for being a positive role model to so many people in the world, and truly allowing those like myself to accept ourselves for who we are, and embrace the beauty within us.

I personally feel that you have saved my life in more ways than one, and I would not be where I am today without you and your amazing story. You will forever be an inspiration to us all. I cannot thank you enough for being you.

Sorry Not Sorry I’m a huge fan,

Your #1 Lovatic

P.S. Please go back on tour for your new album- I want to see you perform live so badly!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
