22 Things I Learned During My Freshman Year at TAMU

This list went viral on Aggie Twitter, so I figured I should share it here too.

22 Things I Learned During My Freshman Year at TAMU

A whole year in a new place leads learning a billion new things. Here are 22 (A-A-A-A-A)

1. Aggieland Outfitters is not the only option for TAMU apparel and it is insanely overpriced

2. I really over estimated how many meal swipes I would need every semester

3. When you walk past Kyle Field and the MSC there will be a small wind tornado happening at all times of the day

4. For a school with 60,000 students, it is really way too small, everyone knows everyone and it is weird

5. A 48 oz water bottle is a necessity

6. So is an umbrella. I literally did not have an umbrella when I moved in.

7. Don't under estimate your ability to hold a lot of stuff because when you go to Panda Express in the MSC they will give you everything behind the counter AND the counter and you have to hold it and look like you have your life together ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

8. Fuego and torchy's are both delicious. Let's chill out on the debate

9. But Layne's is not. It is not good at all. Canes is the only option. (This one did not do so well on Twitter)

10. Cowboy boots are very uncomfortable

11. Assets = Liabilities + Stockholder's Equity

12. The burrito bowl place in the upstairs MSC is much better quality but the burrito bowl place in the downstairs MSC has better/less spicy chicken

13. If you walk around campus with headphones in you will pass people you know and not realize it and they'll yell your name and you will be completely unaware

14. Those free shirts that I cared so much about getting during Howdy Week? Yeah didn't wear any of them ever.

15. The Aggie War Hymn Remix is a BOP. Check it out on YouTube.

16. Every single yell. Except I forgot them now but I had them down during football season.

17. Road trips are like ice cream for the soul. IDK if that makes sense

18. I still don't like the taste of coffee but it is sometimes necessary

19. There is a dip in the second floor of Evans and I will ALWAYS trip on it

20. The squirrels WILL attack. Do not engage

21. don't underestimate the power of the stairs in Heldenfels

22. walking through Rudder Plaza in the middle of the day is a terrible idea unless you want to become a human recycling bin

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
