An Ode To The Target Dollar Section From A Broke College Girl

Even on your worst and most unorganized days, you still manage to help me find something worth my dollar.

To the Target Dollar Section,

Visiting Target was already an exciting trip, but with you, the drive to Target becomes twice as exciting. Where do I even begin? From your consistent supply of adorable notepads, pencils, and clipboards, to your wide variety of seasonal socks & decorations, and to your cheap (but still stylish) assorted wine glasses and dish towels. You never fail to always have me leaving the store with a smile. So thank you, for all of the joy that you have provided me with.

Thank you for showing me things that I never even knew I needed, and for always being considerate with the price. Even on the days when I just came to Target for some foundation and yogurt, you always seem to catch my eye. You have the best assortments of cheap glitter, cactus shaped erasers, and sometimes even take with cats on it.

Who would have known that I could have gotten all of my school supplies for a total of 12 dollars, and who would have known that I could buy a decent smelling candle for only 1 dollar?

One of my favorite qualities about you is how you always have holiday socks and decorations for me. Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day would not be the same without you.

My living room, kitchen, wallet, & roommates are eternally thankful for your wide assortment of holiday wreaths, felt pumpkins, decorative signs, and twinkle Christmas lights.

Thank you for always being there to cheer me up. Whether it be because of a rough exam, because I'm homesick, or because I'm feeling stressed out, you are always there to put a smile on my face. I can walk into Target and head straight to you, and leave feeling much better about myself. (mostly because I'm either leaving with a new notebook or some new stickers for my computer.)

Thank you for never failing to supply me with the best birthday gifts. As a typical broke college student, buying gifts for everyone would be impossible without you by my side. You have given me some of the best last minute party surprises, & have helped me put countless smiles on my friend's faces. (You have also helped me throw some of the best surprise parties.)

Even on your worst and most unorganized days, you still manage to help me find something worth my dollar. Thank you for helping me forget the main reason I even came to Target in the first place.

Thank you, Target dollar section, for all of the things I don't need, and all of the things I didn't know I needed.

See you soon,

A Broke (and Reasonable) College Student.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
