8 Fun Things To Do In Michigan This Summer
A list of activities and places to go in the Mitten State from a longtime resident!
As someone who has been a resident of Michigan my entire life, I have spent a lot of time visiting different areas of the state and seeing what activities there are to do. Here is a list of some of my favorite summertime activities that show off the Great Lakes State!
Visit Mackinac Island
After taking a ferry to the beautiful city, Mackinac Island boasts a plethora of different activities for everyone: ride a horse-drawn carriage, go biking, golf, visit historical sites, or eat the iconic Mackinac fudge.
Ride Roller Coasters at Michigan's Adventure
If you're looking for a thrilling time in Michigan, Michigan's Adventure is a top pick. The amusement park has a water park attached, along with roller coasters and other classic rides in the main area.
Visit Detroit's Greektown
If you're craving Mediterranean food, look no further. Pegasus Taverna, identified by its neon pegasus sign, is a popular Greek restaurant in Detroit, and it is alongside other Greek food venues and bakeries.
Go to a DTE Energy Theater Concert
The best venue for concerts. Outdoors, listening to awesome music, theres nothing better than that!
Visit the Sand Dunes
The beautiful sand dunes in Michigan are an added bonus to having beaches in our state. Riding dune buggies is a popular sand dune activity, or you can explore on your own.
Go to a Tigers Game at Comerica Park
During game days at Comerica Park, the crowd is always a sea of orange and blue spirit for the Tigers, Detroit's beloved baseball team. Going to these games is always an enjoyable time, especially when you can snack on the hot dogs, popcorn and other snacks offered there while you watch the game.
Visit the Detroit Zoo
At the Detroit Zoo you can feed giraffes, go underground to see polar bears swim right above you, and multiple other zoo activities. Going to the Zoo is a popular summer activity among metro Detroit residents, especially families.
Hang Out at the Detroit Riverfront
The Detroit Riverfront offers many restaurants like Shake Shack and the Hard Rock Cafe and has a gorgeous view of Canada from across the waters.
