There is no feeling like coming home. I have been counting down the days until my family comes up to New York and picks me up to go to Virginia for Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong. My first months of college at Stony Brook have been amazing. I've met incredible people and made new friends. There are so many activities on campus, participating in Zumba and going to performances to support my friends.

While growing up, my parents knew right from the start that I was a risk taker. (My mom is probably cringing at this!) From doing stupid things like thinking that skiing down a mountain on an unmarked trail with no adult supervision as a twelve-year old that warns you "SKI PATROL CANNOT REACH THIS AREA" to using fake IDs at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and teetering the line of going to jail or having an (un)forgettable night.

Everybody wants you to have the best experience possible. Whether that be from participating in Panhellenic activities, going on lunch dates with your new sisters or even just those fun late-night chats about any and everything. However, learning all about what goes on in a sorority, trying to remember all the lifetime member's names, comprehending what is going on in chapter meetings and especially finding your place within the sorority all while juggling everything else in your life can easily become overwhelming and stressful.

1. It can be hard being around people ALL THE TIME, especially living in a dorm.

2. No matter how much you think you'll cook, you're not going to.

3. Be open to making new friends.

4. Don't take anything for granted.

Everyone wants the new iPhone, car, and many other products after already having older models that are in good condition.

If you get out everything you can of a situation not only will you feel full of accomplishment but while going through these experiences you will feel happier too.

Life is too short and if we let the future of past get in the way, we will grow old and have doubts that we didn't live our lives to the full potential.

This is an exciting time, but it can get overwhelming, and you are not the only one who has felt this way.
