Now is the time to pursue what you really want out of life.
After almost seven months of unemployment, I am finally employed once again.
While it is a joyous occasion to be employed again after being stuck at home for so long, it's a situation marred by uncertainty. With the coronavirus still raging throughout the United States, going back to work presents a whole new challenge and opportunity.
With everyone looking for a job these days, it can feel like your job search is unending. You apply to hundreds of places and either get ghosted or you get an interview, do well, and never hear from them again.
Most of the time, they post positions that have already been filled internally or that aren't even available. It can become frustrating to be constantly met with dead ends and empty hopes; I've been there plenty of times.
However, I think this is a great moment to finally start over.
Maybe you were laid off from a job you hated (like me). But now, you can finally pursue the career that you have always wanted to. Have some money from unemployment?
Put it towards a Master's degree or to finally moving out. COVID-19 really opened my eyes to what I truly want to do — to finally begin a career in fashion.
While it's easy to try to spin this situation into a positive one, it's important to remember that things are hard for everyone right now.
Many are still unemployed and 200,000 Americans have passed away due to COVID-19. We're not out of the woods yet, and we still need to continue to fight for and support one another.
