When You Look At 'Monsters, Inc.' From This Perspective, It's Actually Pretty Dark
We learn that he is part of the diabolical plot that involves kidnapping children and sucking the life out of them in order to gain more power for the Monster world.
Monsters Inc. has been one of my favorite Pixar films. In fact, it is one of my favorite films to watch to celebrate Halloween! Monsters Inc. revolves around James P. "Sulley" Sullivan, the top scarer of Monsters Inc., who finds a child in the factory and with the help of his one-eyed best friend, Mike Wazowski, he must return the child home and at the same time, they discover an insidious plot behind the Monsters Factory that would test their friendship.
Although many people think this is a family-friendly film due to being a Disney film, this film is a lot darker and scarier than you think! Here are three reasons why this film is scarier than you think.
1. Randall is a child abductor
When we first see Randall, we actually see him as the rival to Sulley and Mike, who wants to be top scarer by breaking the scare record. Throughout the film, we discover he is not after breaking the scare record at all. We learn that he is part of the diabolical plot that involves kidnapping children and sucking the life out of them in order to gain more power for the Monster world.
2. The real monsters are even those who are close to you
Waternoose, the CEO of Monsters Inc. whom Sulley seems very close to. He is a respectable figure in nature, but his true nature is revealed when he banishes Sulley and Mike to the Himalayas. He too is involved with the evil plot with Randall and what is worse, is that Sulley has trusted him. In fact, Sulley has put his trust in the wrong person.
3. Boo is actually a lucky one
After learning Randall and Waternoose's evil plot and that Boo is one of the kidnapped children, who's to say that she is the first to be kidnapped? According to Waternoose, he states he will kidnap a thousand children before he dies. Knowing that Randall and Waternoose's evil plot has been happening for a while, they must have kidnapped a lot of children before Boo. That is to say that Boo is not the first to enter the monster world at all. In fact, Boo is perhaps the lucky one who escapes the Monster world alive.
Mind-blowing, isn't it?
