Remember when we were in kindergarten and we all got that prompt to draw what we wanted to be when we got older? I bet most of the little drawings were that of policemen, doctors, astronauts, and superman. I get it every kid wants to be hero, but as we get older these ideas of heroism for a good reason seem to fade and as our egos set in, our career choices are " what can bring me that nice paycheck?"

Being financially stable is a goal we all want, of course, but is that the only thing we should be living for? Money is great but, it can easily lead to greed. As someone who is a creative, I'm all for others following their dreams of studying art as their degree. Now don't get me wrong if you genuinely want to be a scientist I think that's great too! This article isn't to talk about why being an artist is great but to thank the people that support us.

When you decide to declare yourself as an art major or take that job as a graphic designer there are always the people that will try and knock you down about it. Instead of telling you how awesome you are for deciding to be different, it's always " Can you make a decent living with that?" "Will you be able to bring in a steady income?" All these questions revolve around the same thing. MONEY. Let me just say, just because we are deciding to take art as our career, does not mean we're dumb by any means. We've probably sat up all night thinking about this fact exactly. Everyone knows that any type of creative career is hit or miss with money, so the fact that we continue to pursue it says volumes about our personalities. The t in art stands for tenacious ;)

Being in the art world means that we are doubted constantly and most often we are our own worst critics. This is why it means the world when friends, family, and even strangers support the art community. Just like the world is in need of doctors and lawyers, the world needs the sensitivity, colorfulness, originality, and aesthetic inclination of creative thinkers. Although I'm sure we would be able to push on without the encouragement and support, it helps a lot to have it. For those of you that can't get behind it, maybe if we had your support, we could make the money that you speak of ;)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
