Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce took the stage at the halftime show of Super Bowl 50. This could be called one of the best pop lineups in the history of Super Bowls. While it was the first time Coldplay performed a halftime show, Beyonce performed in 2013 and Mars in 2014. They did not get paid for their performances because of the high amount of promotion for the acts. According to a Forbes article, "Either way, the halftime show serves as a free commercial for headlining acts, one that airs in front of more than 100 million people.”
Coldplay became established as a British rock band at the University College London in 1996 with lead vocalist Chris Martin and head guitarist Johnny Buckland.
They have produced seven studio-recorded albums and have received seven Grammy Awards. Some of their hits include “Viva la Vida” and “Clocks.”

Beyonce started out in the R&B group Destiny’s Child, but started a solo back in 2006. She's a dancer, actress, and singer who is married to Jay Z and has self-identified as a “modern-day feminist.”
She has earned five Grammy Awards and has produced 5 studio-recorded albums. Her hits include, "Run The World," "Drunk In Love" and "Love On Top."
