Here are some of the amazing places I have found to visit in Raleigh. It is either on my list or I have already done it, either way, all of these places are fun experiences in the Raleigh community.

1. Regal Cinemas & Crossroads

This might cost you a pretty penny, but it was an experience I have yet to be able to replicate. When watching a movie in the IMAX portion of the theatre you will be amazed, especially if you come from a small town like me. I sat in the front row and had no complaints. The theatre is small, and each chair is a recliner so that you can be as comfortable as possible while watching the movie. I watched Skull Island there and it was awesome.

2. Rock climbing

I went with my boyfriend but since then, I have been rock climbing several times. You can get group rates on Groupon and bring some friends too. I thought I would be really bad at rock climbing because I am not particularly strong in my arms or really athletic at all but I had a great time and an amazing workout that I don’t know if I could’ve had anywhere else.

3. Arboretum

NC States Arboretum has tons of plants that are gorgeous and ones that you might not see outside of Google. Something even better, is that it is free to look at all of the beautiful plants collected by the college. This is something great to do with children and as a date.

4. Museums

Raleigh has many museums that show history and art from all around the world. There is also the Natural Science museum. Every location has fun interactive learning experiences that will help with culturing you. There is even a kid museum that I plan to take my nephew to the next time he comes and visits me.

5. Pullen Park

There are so many things to do at this park including; paddle boating, riding a train, carousel, and a beautiful picnic area. My nephews loved visiting the park and there were several different play areas for children. Pullen park offers cheap opportunities to have a fun day outside.

6. Planetarium

This isn’t in Raleigh, but it is close by in the Chapel Hill area. I have been to a small planetarium when I was a kid back where I grew up. The Morehead Planetarium is the largest one in the state though. This is top on my list for the next day I am looking for something fun to do.

7. Reader’s Corner

This is a used bookstore on Hillsborough St and it is amazing. I geeked out in there but I know I am an English major with a soft side for used books. They have an array of genres and texts where I feel like a kid in a candy store. Easily the best-used bookstore I have ever been to.

8. Lake Johnson

The lake offers many different activities. There are trails around the lake, so you can take some time with nature. You can go hiking, or rent a kayak, boat, or canoe, for only $5 an hour. Now that the school year has ended I am making a trip to Lake Johnson to go canoeing with my boyfriend.

9. Tupelo Honey

You need to go here for the great service and the phenomenal honey. I am not a honey person but after tasting their honey I have had a change of heart. They also have an amazing blackberry jam that goes superbly with their homemade biscuits. The cooking reminded me of home and the energy of the restraint was a treat.

10. Mordecai House

Not only a museum, the Mordecai house was built in the 1700s and is the largest plantation in Wake County. Instead of going to museums and learn about the world, you can go and learn about the recent history of Raleigh. This is top of my mother’s list to visit when she comes to see me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
