Summer is hands-down the best season and time of the year. First off, the weather is amazing-so amazing you do not need to escape the cold Wisconsin weather by taking a trip to Florida anymore, you can go right outside into your backyard. Summer is the time for iced drinks (which who does not LOVE iced anything). You get to see your friends both old and new. You can take a break from school or you can stay ahead and take summer classes, and the best of all, you can drive with all the windows down blasting music during a road trip or any errand you need to run.

1. The weather

Whenever I talk about summer with someone it is always about how nice and hot the weather has been. I mean who else loves being home and going on hikes, to beaches and sitting at the pool. You get to enjoy your city while it is nice out instead of having to escape the Wisconsin cold and fly to Florida to have a hot get-away trip? Sounds like a HUGE win to me.

2. Iced drinks

Now, I am the type of girl who will order an Iced Coffee when it is well below freezing. But if I do say so myself, ordering an iced coffee in the summer has a different vibe. Plus, home-made iced lemonade is pretty much only a summer only kind of drink while sitting outside on a family deck or by the pool side. Iced drinks are always the win, but especially in the summer.

3. Road trips

Picture this: car windows down, music blasting from the car, jamming with your best-friends in the car, while driving down country roads-or any road for that fact. Sounds like a perfect summer to me while you get to spend time exploring and going on adventures. Let this upcoming summer be a summer of yes.

4. (No) school

Summer is a nice way to get a break from school in order to work and relax. But some students, and many of them including myself attending summer classes online, on campus, or at a community college to stay focused, engaged, and ahead of school so the transition back is not as difficult.

5. High school friends

Coming back from 2 semesters of college and seeing your high school best friends is honestly one of the best feelings to ever experience. In summer you get 3 entire months of being surrounded with those you grew up with and make many more adventures and memories with them.

6. College friend visits

Uhm, of course after spending a entire year with your college friends you would not be able to live without them for three ENTIRE months. That is nearly impossible in my book. Having the time to visit your college friends and explore their cities with them is always a yes in my book and a fun way to escape home for awhile.

7. Work, work, work, work

Who does not love money? Without it in society we would not be able to obtain the goods we need that allow us to generally live and breathe. We all have had a summer job to make an earning for our bills, fun activities, splurging on ourselves, or for the upcoming college year. It is a necessity for college student, or for anyone in general. Time to 'work work work' as Beyonce said.

8. SLEEP

One thing that college has taught me to do, is nap and basically be dead from exhaustion. How is an individual suppose to balance a job, studying, homework, exercising, doing activities, extracurriculars, going to class, eating, having a social life and sleep. It is a lot to juggle in a short amount of time. I never thought I would say that a day could not go by any faster. Summer is the time to sleep and get lots of it!!

9. Free time

The best thing about summer is being able to have such a small amount of responsibilities and work load (from both work and online classes) that you can still have a life, see you life, and make a ton of new memories!! Rather that be going to a carnival, a pool, road trips, or hiking, there are always million of option to choose from to have a great summer.

10. Being at home

Lastly, being home and seeing your family, your pets, home cooked meals, and most importantly, sleeping in your bed once again. Has anything else seemed so perfect. Being gone at college and returning home is a feeling like no else, plus you get to work on your odyssey writing from your own room ;)
