Summer Is Right Around The Corner And These 10 Things Are Why It's The Best Season Of Them All
Leila Yasha

We are less than a month away from the first day of summer. The summer season is characterized as a time for fun in the sun. However, there is much more to this season than what meets the eye. Here are my 10 favorite things about the summer season:

1. Outdoor concerts and movies are finally here!

Outdoor movies and concerts are scarce when it gets colder outside. In the summer season, movies and concerts on the grass or sand are plentiful so take advantage!

2. Longer days let you savor the fun!

Extra daylight hours means more time to enjoy the little things. From getting together with friends to working, there are many different ways to spend more time under the summer sun.

3. Your favorite fruits are ready to eat!

Eating perfectly ripe fruit in the summer season is something to look forward to. Peaches, berries, and watermelon appear in grocery stores and farmers markets, making everything sweeter and brighter.

4. There's finally time to travel.

Summer is the perfect time for family vacations and vacations with friends! Whether it's camping or road trips on Route 66, the season brings out the adventure in everybody.

5. Beaches and Lakes are the perfect place.

Diving into the cold water of a lake, ocean, or swimming pool is therapeutic. In the summer, you can cool off on a hot day by going into the water!

6. Cold Drinks complete a summer day.

An ice-cold drink can take you on a vacation without you even having to get up. Add a slice of lemon or a cherry, and you will make the most of your sweet summertime thirst-quencher.

7. Cotton and Linen time!

In summer, you get to wear those cotton tees and linen sundresses since it's so hot outside! A cotton shirt can make you feel light on a summer day when it's super hot outside.

8. Fireworks finish the perfect night!

In the summertime, you are likely to find firework shows wherever you are in the world! In the United States, the Fourth of July is a fun summer holiday with lots of firework shows across the country. In Japan, there is a fireworks display every weekend in June and August.

9. The Summer Anthems!

They don't call them summer anthems for nothing. Every summer season, you can expect your favorite singers to put out a great song for those ready to dance and sing along, with their shades and shorts on.

10. Ice Cream galore!

While ice cream is a treat for all year round, ice cream is a match made in heaven for the summer season. When it's super hot outside, there isn't anything better than a triple scoop cone.

Wherever you are this summer, these 10 things are something to appreciate. Enjoy the season while it lasts! I truly believe Summer 2018 will be the best summer yet.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

The people that spend their summers at the lake are a unique group of people.

Whether you grew up going to the lake, have only recently started going, or have only been once or twice, you know it takes a certain kind of person to be a lake person. To the long-time lake people, the lake holds a special place in your heart, no matter how dirty the water may look.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
