Stop Letting Celebrities Distract Us From Real Life

They have their lives and so do we.

Stop Letting Celebrities Distract Us From Real Life

Celebrities are too distracting from what is really going on. Once upon a time, there was a point where the only thing American's were so concerned about was when they were going to wait for the next big phone or event to come out. When I can't even express more on how times have changed, they certainly have. I can't even wrap my head around what is even going on anymore.

With Nicki and Cardi beefing, Kanye and his controversy, and with our favorite celebrities getting engaged or divorcing I think it's about that time to say that I'm tired. Not just about these particular events but just in general. I think us as American's need to as they say 'GET IT TOGETHER!!" But let's face it; have we really ever had it together? However in this particular time it is endless to say that we should focus less on beefs and more on the important things. Celebrities' personal lives are always constantly distracting us from what we should really be focusing on. The media is especially guilty since we are in the age of social media where news can literally be found everywhere.

At the risk of sounding older, there was also once a time where you had to look at not just the television for news but you actually had to dare I say it look up information in the newspaper. Also there was a time where to even get connected to the internet required dial-up. Don't know what that is? I suggest you give it a google search and get back to me.

But anyway, back to these celebs. Don't get me wrong every once in a while I love some good gossip about some of my favs that I follow. But on a daily basis? No thank you. I simply just do not know how some people really have the time to look up every ounce of information on what is happening in the world of entertainment. Yes, I have heard before that some people have called me pop culture savvy.

That does not mean that I will make it a daily task to follow some of them each and every minute. I have more things to accomplish and worry about other than a beef between two talented MCs. Let's be real, how much longer is this 'beef' going to go on? Plus Kanye is always going to be Kanye and has been the Kanye we've known for years. By questioning and getting pissed is only going to make things worse.

By making it worse I mean making Kanye get talked about more and more. So really and truly speaking what would you rather do? Would you rather constantly continue to entertain a beef that who knows when that will be complete, or would you rather do something else useful with your time.

Listen now I know that celebrities are people too, but I would rather focus on all the goals I am trying to accomplish rather than worrying about someone that does not even know who I am. Nor do they know that I exist. Once again, this is not me saying that you should not get your daily dose of pop culture. I'm just clarifying that there are certain priorities that should come first. Let celebs live their lives.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
