"We just have to accept that we are prone to thinking less of ourselves and more of those who we think are better"
To make it frank, everyone shits. The Queen of England, celebrities and even your crush who you've been stalking on Snapchat for weeks. No one is better than anyone , we are all equal. It can be easy to forget this especially in the 21st century where everyone is constantly broadcasting their personal lives to the world.
Doubting yourself and feeling hopeless is a normal part of life that we all must deal with but you shouldn't let that get to you or prevent you from doing what you want. We live in a world that glorifies specific kinds of people and often times leaves the rest of the world on the fringes.
From time to time I get caught up in the media's superficial attitudes and can't help but feel depressed. Depressed because I'm not a member of a country club or because I'm not a straight-A student. Allowing these feelings of inadequacy to take control of you will take a toll on you. It helps to see things from a different perspective. Whenever my inadequacies get the best of me I try to think of the classiest person I know. For example look at Ryan Gosling,a Canadian heartthrob who has everything going on for him right? Wrong Mr. Gosling is not perfect. He trips and falls, he gets nervous, he gets tired after a long run and most importantly he worries he isn't good enough from time to time. You would never think famous people go through everyday problems like we do but they do. That's because the image we see of them in the media is just as artificial as a McDonald's happy meal.
Looking past this is the first step. The next step is realizing everything you need to be who you want is inside you right now. Forget the labels society puts on you, forget the mistakes you made in the past , forget anything that will get in the way of you being who you want to be. You can literally do anything you want if you work hard for it in the 21st Century. Really you can. This guy went from living in a trailer park with his infant son to being the most influential photographer in the United States. Everyone's path is different but it's like I always tell my friends. You can't choose where you were born, how you look, or who hates you but you can choose where you want to be in the future.
None of what I'm saying is easy and your dreams may not be in reach at the moment but remember you can get there once you start believing in yourselves and not what anyone else says. I believe in you.
