Starbucks Holiday Shocker!

A few months after the new school year starts every August, the thought of another cold and harsh winter begins to enter the minds of many Americans. During these winter months, most people want to curl up besides a fireplace and drink a cup of hot coffee. This year, many northerners are going to be quite upset with the seasonal drink this winter season.

While the new red cup doesn't come out for another week, Starbucks released a brand new holiday drink that might be as controversial as those cups. Instead of introducing another warm and cozy beverage like the peppermint mocha or eggnog latte (don't worry, you can still get those), this year's new drink is cold. If you live in Phoenix or Las Vegas (or you're the kind of person who drinks iced coffee year round), this is great news. But if you live in a place where it actually gets cold in the winter, we don't blame you for being a little bit miffed. However, while the Spiced Sweet Cream Nariño 70 Cold Brew may not scream CHRISTMAS like a gingerbread latte does, we can't deny that a cup of cold brew spiced with cinnamon, anise, nutmeg and vanilla and finished with sweet cream sounds delicious and festive.

However, as we previously reported, there ARE still warm holiday favorites to look forward to. Hello, Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Eggnog Latte, Gingerbread Latte and Peppermint Mocha. Which begs the question, did we need a cold option for this coldest of seasons? Perhaps not, but Starbucks-obsessives will no doubt still want to try the new drink for themselves.

Starbucks Rewards members can get an early taste of the new drink starting today, November 3, and everyone else can get their hands on it at stores in the U.S. and Canada later in November.

Don’t worry! You can still get the original seasonal holiday drinks you have come to love over the years such as:

Caramel Brûlée Latte: A holiday beverage from Starbucks, made with espresso, steamed milk and caramel Brulée sauce, topped with sweetened whipped cream and caramel Brulée topping.

Peppermint Mocha: A Starbucks holiday beverage made with espresso, steamed milk, mocha sauce and peppermint flavored syrup, topped with sweetened whipped cream and dark chocolate curls.

Gingerbread Latte: A Starbucks holiday beverage made with espresso, steamed milk and gingerbread flavored syrup, topped with sweetened whipped cream and nutmeg.

Eggnog Latte: A Starbucks holiday beverage made with espresso, steamed eggnog and milk, topped with ground nutmeg.

Toffee Nut Latte: A Starbucks holiday beverage made with espresso, steamed milk, toffee nut syrup, and topped with Toffee Nuts.

Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha: A Starbucks holiday beverage made with espresso, steamed milk, white chocolate, mocha, cranberries and topped with chocolate drizzle.

Eggnog Latte: A Starbucks holiday beverage made with espresso, steamed eggnog and milk, topped with ground nutmeg.

Happy Holiday Season!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
