It’s no secret to those who know me that I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with Jay Park. “Who’s Jay Park?” you ask? Well, let me enlighten you! Park Jaebeom, known better as Jay Park, is a Korean-American rapper and singer. Jay is the co-CEO of two highly successful record labels in Korea and he is also signed to Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation. Jay started out as a kpop idol in a group called 2 PM. He then left Korea due to a controversy and started on his path to success. Now, without further ado, the top reasons you need to become a fan of Jay Park today.

1. He is the biggest goofball ever.

Jay Park comes off as the type of guy who is all business, however, that is far from the truth. He is probably one of the biggest idiots, and I say this in a loving way, on the planet. There are tons of videos of Jay goofing off with his friends or irritating his precious dogs, PJ and Oscar. He also acts in a lot of SNL Korea skits that are some of the funniest clips I’ve ever seen!

2. He is exuberantly hardworking.

I am 100% convinced that Jay Park is a vampire because I don’t think he sleeps. This man is running two companies, managing and promoting around 20 artists, helping produce the albums, writing and making his own music, filming for shows and music videos, featuring on nearly every artists’ track, managing tours and probably more things I don’t even see because it’s not on his Instagram. He is highly dedicated to his work and I think it sets an amazing example to those who strive for their dreams. To see how Jay “stays on his grind”, is very inspiring.

3. He got to where he is by himself.

Jay was not given any handouts. After the controversy when he left 2 PM, no one was on his side. Nearly everyone hated him. He worked odd jobs and started b-boying in a group called AOM (Art of Movement), through which he met his friend, and now co-CEO, Cha Cha Malone as well as other friends he still works with today. He also posted a lot of singing videos on Youtube, which I must say are the cutest thing ever. His cover/freestyle of Nothing On You by Bruno Mars is the video that blew up.

4. He is actually woke.

Despite what his controversy may reveal, he is very aware of social justice issues in the world. The comments made on his Myspace page are from the early 2000’s and he was young. He has grown up a lot since then and keeps up with social justice issues. I think my favorite thing about him, in this aspect, is the fact that he follows Bernie Sanders on Twitter. He is very ‘woke’, despite what a lot of people would want you to believe and he does care about issues.

5. Probably one of the most multi-talented people ever.

Earlier I said Jay is a rapper and singer, but I failed to mention everything else he is capable of. Jay is also a dancer, songwriter, producer, choreographer, and actor. Everything that Jay puts out on his albums is written by him and produced by him and a couple other producers on his labels. All of the choreography you see in his live performances and music videos are created by him, not to mention his b-boying skills. He has tons of talent that many people don’t recognize or notice because they only look on the surface of him as a person.

6. Spread love and positivity, a’ight?

Spread love and positivity is something Jay says a lot. I think it’s his life motto. He bases his whole life and personality around being a positive person and releasing ‘feel good’ music. Just like any other person, he struggles with this sometimes, but he always perseveres and stays true to his famous saying.

There are so many reasons why you need to become a fan of Jay Park, but these are some of my top reasons for loving him as unconditionally as I do. If you need more convincing, just look up some of his songs.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
