Taking a summer class is a brave thing to do. First off, it's a huge decision. Will it fit in with your schedule? What class should you take? Should you take an online course? An in-person course? Do you need this class to graduate? Do you even WANT to take a summer course?

And once you sign up and begin your class, there are lots of emotions you go through. This summer, I'm taking my first summer college course, Journalism 445: Creative Campaign Messages. From my current experience, taking a summer class is an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. Here are the 14 stages of deciding to take a class and experiencing that summer course.

1. Deciding whether or not to take a summer class while you're currently drowning in spring semester homework

Giphy

Do you really want to be THIS stressed during the SUMMER?!

2. When you realize that summer might be super boring without something to do

You're already imagining that "I'm one week into summer vacation and already bored" kind of feeling.

3. Officially signing up for that summer class and hyping yourself up

You'll get ahead in school, you'll save some money and time, it'll be great. No worries.

4. Realizing you'll get to spend your summer in the city

There's so much to do, it's unbelievable. Summer in the city is a dream come true!

5. Checking in with all your friends to see who is staying over the summer

Because you'll need people to hang out with when you're not in class, duh.

6. The night before your first day of class

Giphy

Contemplating your decision to take a summer class and having first day of school jitters. Totally normal y'all.

7. Walking into your first class

You regret your decision to take a summer class almost immediately. You promise yourself on the spot you'll never, ever sign up for a summer class again.

8. Reading over the syllabus for your four-credit four-week class

Yeah, no thanks.

9. When you have to buy a textbook for a four-week course

I'm still confused.

10. When you start to make friends with your classmates

Thank God for friends. The friends you make and the people you meet in class truly make the day more fun and exciting, plus the day goes by so much faster.

11. When your friends are off doing fun things but you have homework to do

"Want to come over and watch me do my homework?" —said basically everyone in a summer school class.

12. When you're two weeks in and the class is halfway over

You blink and the class is almost over. Where did that time go?!

13. Getting to do homework outside

One of the best perks of taking a summer class: you can take class outside! My favorite place to work is at the Terrace.

14. Lastly, the feeling you get when you finally finish that summer course you had a love/hate relationship with

You go girl. Live it up. This is your moment. Bask in your success. You did it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
