The 10 Different Stages Of Music On A Long Road Trip

If any of you have been on a long road trip, you know what I mean when I say there are different times for different genres of music. After roadtripping for over 20 hours, it is evident that every genre of music gets some playing time, and each playing time has a different mood. There are 10 different stages of long car rides and the genres of music that are played during each stage.

1. Hip-hop

The car ride starts off with the music that everybody is currently listening to. People are fresh in their seats and not delusionally exhausted yet, so some up-to-date music is usually played. This gets everyone excited for the car ride and it gets the blood pumping

2. Rap

Once the person with the aux cord runs out of good, popular jams to play, they usually switch to some rap that is popular; everyone is getting a little bored and starting to get antsy. The rap music helps get people excited again.

3. Throwbacks

By the time you are out of the genre of rap, you move into throwbacks. Who doesn't love some good throwbacks? They're perfect songs to sing along to and they bring everyone in the car together!

4. Country

Whether people want to admit it or not, everyone has that one country song that they love...or more than one. People start listening to country music once they are hours into the car ride and are getting bored of what they've been listening to. Another genre that has great sing-along songs!

5. Slow/feels music

These are for the middle of the night when everyone is tired and starting to fall asleep. Perfect for everyone asleep, but not so much for the driver! These are the tough hours to stay awake, but also when deep talks take place.

6. No music

Everybody eventually needs a break from music, and this is the time for that! Everyone is awake from their nap and need some time to wake up.

7. More throwbacks

Jumping right back into throwbacks is a good way to get everybody involved in the car ride again, giving them the chance to sing along.

8. '90s throwbacks

Once everyone runs out of good throwback recommendations, they switch to that certain genre of throwbacks: '90s throwbacks. Who doesn’t love these?

9. Electric dance music

This is for when the car ride is coming to an end and everyone is getting excited. Some EDM music is the perfect way to get everyone excited for the trip!

10. Hip-hop

This genre of music is played right when you are about to reach the destination. At this point, nobody is focused on the music!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
