Spring Break Is Over: Here's the Bright Side

Rest in peace, spring break 2k16.

Spring Break Is Over: Here's the Bright Side

We all know the feeling of coming back from a break, then counting down the days till the next one. Currently, we're coming off the tail-end of one of the most coveted breaks of all, spring break. Spring break is the one we've been planning for since September and counting down since January. Sadly, friends, spring break 2016 has come to an end. Although coping with this with won't be easy, I'm here to help you mourn the loss. Here's a few things we all... at some point... maybe... briefly, missed during our SB2k16 shenanigans.

1. Food

Whether your go-to preference is queso from Taq, terrapin dip from Pauley’s, late night downtown Waffle House, or any local favorite, there is some kind of dish you've been craving during your time away. Now that you're back, indulge.

2. Socializing

Although you had plenty to do during your spring break endeavors, you can take comfort in the fact that there also is a lot to do here. Whether it's going out on a thirsty Thursday, getting ice cream with your pals, or crafting with your srat sisters, there are many options to help you get out of your post-spring break funk.

3. Friends (and crushes)

You were with a lot of your closest friends during the break, but there are also others that traveled to different places. So bask in the glory and get excited about getting your entire crew back together again to share your crazy spring break stories. Plus, now that you’re back in town, you get to continue your baewatch for 2016 (and find a last-minute formal date).

4. Extra-Curriculars

Philanthropies, intramural sports, Greek life events, and clubs with their weekly meetings are back in your planner. While to some this may not be the most fun, it is nice to be back on a schedule. Plus, being busy helps you feel productive. This also ties in with #3, because you get to see your favorite people at the meetings and practices!

5. Schoolwork!!!

Just kidding.

However, you do get to see that cutie from your geography class again (wink wink).

Rest in peace, spring break 2016, you were good to us. Bring on the rest of the semester (and the rest of the Netflix marathons)!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, spring party season! Showercap, Cowboy Ball, Lost, Derby Days, Bowery Ball, Native Weekend, Shakedown, Beta Lei, Tau Tug, Luau, and many other fun events await!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Waitlisted for a College Class? Here's What to Do!

Dealing with the inevitable realities of college life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
