8 Songs With Body Positivity Lyrics That Will Empower, Encourage, And Energize You
@aerie

So, there are a million and one songs out there giving off the impression that human beings need to look a certain way to be attractive, beautiful, or worthy. It is 2018, my friends, we don't need that crap. We're ready to love ourselves as humans, and love the bodies that we are in and we don't need validation from ANYBODY (except our fabulous selves).

Here are some of my favorite songs that promote looking yourself in the mirror and seeing beauty (and helping your significant other do the same).

1. "Beautiful Flower" by India Arie

"'Cause you're beautiful like a flower

More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind and

There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful

Yeah, you, who are resilient"

2. "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga

"'There's nothing wrong with loving who you are'
She said, 'Cause he made you perfect, babe'
'So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say'

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby

I was born this way (Born this way)."

3. "Corazon Sin Cara" by Prince Royce

"Y si eres gorda o flaca, todo eso no me importa a mí
Y tampoco soy perfecto sólo sé que yo te quiero así

Y el corazón
No tiene cara
Y te prometo que lo nuestro nunca va a terminar
Y el amor

Vive en el alma."

4. "Crooked Smile" by J. Cole (feat. TLC)

"We ain't picture perfect but we worth the picture still."

5. "Eyes Closed" by In Real Life

"There's something 'bout the way your mind works
It might be how you're looking at the world
It's deeper than your looks and your curves
There's something 'bout you.

I can feel it in your heart, I can hear it in your tone
I can see it in the dark, even with my eyes closed, you're beautiful
I can hear it in your words and it feels so good, it hurts
Even with my eyes closed, you're beautiful
I wish you could see what, see what I'm seeing
Feel what I'm feeling
I can feel it in your heart, I can hear it in your tone
I can see it in the dark, even with my eyes closed, you're beautiful
."

6. "Most Girls" by Hailee Steinfeld

"'Cause you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen."

7. "My Favorite Shirt Is My Skin" by Modsun

"Pretty on the outside and within,

My favorite shirt is my skin, I'm in love with myself,

Every time I look into the mirror (woo!), I melt."

8. "Video" by India.Arie

"Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don't

Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won't
Depend of how the wind blows I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be
India.Arie

When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it's suppose to be
And I know my creator didn't make no mistakes on me

My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes, I'm loving what I see."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
