Living in Minnesota year-round means signing a contract with the devil of bad weather. The first snowfall of winter feels as if Minnesota is a giant snow globe, and the air is filled with happiness. But come January, that picturesque scene turns to a bitter cold city of annoying snowbanks and slippery sidewalks.

The bipolar nature of our weather can grace Minnesotans with abnormally warm weather in March, but this year we're not so lucky. In early March, some cities in Minnesota received more than 10 inches of snow. Most Minnesotans enter March wishing for budding flowers and greener trees, but it looks like we're going to have to wait a little while longer.

Being a college student and having to walk around on slippery sidewalks every day doesn't make it easier to venture into the tundra to an 8 A.M.

Without further ado, here are ten gifs that represent just how Minnesotans feel about this unexpected snowfall.

1. Walking around

The ice is the worst part of a major snowfall. You can't always see it either, so you will most likely end up with a bruised hip or major embarrassment.

2. Walking around pt.2

Seriously, when will this stuff melt?

3. Waking up to snow

An early class you have to walk to with slippery sidewalks? An early commute to work with terrible traffic due to the snow? We would like to request a week-long sick leave, please.

4. Hearing the meteorologist talk about the future snowfall

I know it's their job, but it's hard not to hate the meteorologist that is explaining the hell we will endure with the next snowfall.

5. Accepting the awful news

Again? But it seems like we just had ten inches of snow. Having a taste of what it's like to have spring days to then have the evil entity of snow return is disheartening, to say the least.

6. Checking the always-changing radar

It seems as if no one really knows how much snow is going to come and when it will hit. One moment it's coming at midnight, and the next it's coming at 5 p.m. the next day.

7. In denial

After becoming acquainted with the snow for one too many months, it can be hard to believe that another blizzard is on its way.

8. Making plans to move to a warmer, more practical state.

Why do we stay in this state? I'm leaving, ASAP.

9. Sick and tired of the cold

We've had enough.

10. Rekindling love for Minnesota

The first above-freezing day that first comes after the big snowfall makes us Minnesotans realize the beauty of living in a state with four seasons. Minnesota is an amazing place to live with a unique community. Sometimes, we just need to embrace the snow because we know warmer weather is just around the corner.

There you have it. Ten gifs that represent the struggle that Minnesotans go through during the late winter months.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
