On September 26, the long-awaited first presidential debate took place. Viewers nationwide tuned in to watch controversial candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton present their uncensored thoughts with the public. The winner, though, of this highly anticipated event?
Snapchat.
Why, you may ask? Because throwing a filter on the two candidates that Americans love to hate gave the first debate an unexpected social media spin.
As I scrolled through dozens of Snapchat stories on Monday night , I was bombarded by 40-second stories of Trump and Clinton sporting flower crowns, dog ears, a severe frown and several nightmare-inducing face swaps.
Now, if you recall, the 2012 election between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney was deemed the "Twitter Election."
So, it's only appropriate to assume that at this point, the 2016 election lies in the hands of Snapchat...
