If your eyes are not showing midterm exam stress, I’m sure your skin is. With the last week before spring break, Penn State professors are hounding students to roll out essays and ushering them to cram for exams all the while still teaching new material.
The sleep deprivation and stress can leave your face in pimple madness and looking extremely dull. And honestly, it takes a lot of effort to recover once your face is a target for pesky pimples. It’s a lot easier and healthier to prevent the breakouts than to recover from them.
So here are six skincare products to help you breeze along midterms week:
1. Skinfood Egg White Foam Cleanser
This cleanser may sound a little odd because it contains egg whites, but it has a really pleasant smell to it and leaves your skin looking amazing afterwards. It helps minimize and tighten pores, which makes it harder for dirt to enter your pores and form pimples. After using it, your pores will look smaller and your face will look much brighter. Unfortunately, Skinfood is a Korean brand so you probably won’t find it at your local CVS or Target any time soon. However, you can grab it online at Amazon or Ulta.
2. Tea Tree Oil Sheet Masks
Tea tree oil is really great for preventing breakouts or clearing them up if you’re already having one. Any brand of tea tree oil sheet masks will do, but my favorite is Tony Moly, which is another Korean brand that you can find at Amazon, Ulta, or Urban Outfitters.
3. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
This is an acne spot treatment with salicylic acid and calamine to quickly dry out pimples overnight. The drying lotion isn’t as harsh as other spot treatments and doesn’t leave your skin with dry patches. So, if you have a couple of stress pimples you need to get rid of quickly, this is the product for you.
4. Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub
It’s important to find a good facial scrub to get rid of dead skin cells. The Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub contains aloe vera and chamomile to calm redness, Korean ginseng to promote new skin cells, and walnut bits to rid of dead skin cells. This scrub also smells like candy so that’s another plus.
5. Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener
I know what you’re thinking, another Korean brand?! But people in South Korea are known for having porcelain skin and the skincare lines really show for it. The Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener is a toner that balances your pH levels to deep cleanse, tighten pores, and help control oil sebum. You can find this product on Amazon.
6. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater
It’s important to hydrate your skin even if you have oily skin. Facial sprays are good if your skin is feeling dull during the day. The gardenia, rose, and thyme in the spray helps promote antioxidant and clarifying properties, which is great for preventing breakouts.
