A Simple, Successful Life In 2019

The New Year can mean a fresh start, some much-needed change, or a continuation of success and happiness. However, with all these resolutions, a few people only achieve them. There are ways that individuals could live a simple life yet be successful in the upcoming year.

2018, thank u, next! Happy New Years

Many people that are in the spirit of the New Year's loudly proclaim, "It's 2019, I am going to purchase a new automobile, invest in retirements funds, lose some weight, you name it!" Yet, what does that truly mean? Does it mean that you will research different car companies to pursue this dream car, save up for retirement funds, or exercise while being on a diet? Well, the first way to live a simple, successful life in 2019 is to clearly define your goals and be realistic with them. This is easily done by simply writing your goals and taking them one step at a time. You may think that we can accomplish a lot of our goals overnight, but it takes what I call the Triple P's: Prayer, Patience, and Progress. Before you think about your goals, try to pray about them that regardless of what happens, God will guide you and lead you into the right steps to succeed in your goals.

Furthermore, tracking the progress of your goal will make your life simple and successful in 2019. It is certain that we could make over 100 goals for the new year, but how can we keep up with every single one of them? According to Kevin Kruse's fundamental principle of psychology, he states, "If you can measure it, you can change it." As you are taking the steps in accomplishing your goals, the measurements that you track will be motivated because it gives you the opportunity to reflect on where you started and where you currently are. Additionally, tracking your progress will also help you identify any areas that you need improvement so that you can adjust those efforts.

Lastly, get up, where ever you slip up! No single human being is perfect, not even me. Nevertheless, contemplate on your goals that you came up with this year, did you apply the triple P's I mentioned earlier? If not, just know that consistency and resilience are key to making sure you live a simple, successful life in 2019! Dwelling on past failures and setbacks will not help leap forward to reaching your goals. When I feel in doubt or if I feel like giving up, I must remind myself that I have people who love and truly supportive of what I am trying to achieve. So, I take the time to meditate on an uplifting bible verse Philippians 4:13 which states, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." If you are reading this, you can make 2019 the best! Do not those temporary, and yes, I said temporary failures to take a toll on you because it only provides that extra step for success! Take the time to acknowledge your mistakes and recommit to your goal. Be you, take charge, and develop the right skills and strategies to live a dream of a simple, successful life!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
