From info night to bid day celebrations, the similarities between joining a sorority and the first movie in the "Divergent" series are eerily accurate.
It all starts on info night. You walk into recruitment with a smile on your face, learn everything you need to know about every house and your journey begins. This is the night where you basically find out right off the bat where you fit in the most.
After about a week full of deep, deep thought, you make your final decision. You choose your fate. You decide where you want to spend the rest of your life. If you choose differently than the rest of your family, they will be upset for a while, but they will eventually have to deal with your decision. *cough cough* legacies *cough cough*
You get paired up with a sister who then leads you through your first day as an (enter sorority name here). This person is officially your first friend in this new group of people that you are suddenly affiliated with. (Disclaimer: You don't typically fall in love with this person and/or have to basically go to war by their side).
The bid day celebrations are absolutely insane. You get praise from all of the active members and hear all about the next few weeks to come. Although, in the first few weeks of being a Dauntless you basically fight your "family" members to the death and after joining a sorority you basically just bond with everyone while learning a bunch of stuff, the similarities are still there.
Last but not least, let's not forget about the Factionless. The Factionless either end up that way because they get kicked out of their faction or because they just didn't fit in anywhere else. Granted, if you don't join a sorority you aren't homeless and you're considered just an average person. It's still a comparison.
Now, I'm not condoning any inter-sorority brawls or cutting your hand open to show your faith to your sorority. All I am saying is that joining a sorority is eerily similar to joining a faction. Take this as you will, but I think Tris would be a badass sorority woman.
