You Know You're From South Florida When...

Yes. I live where you vacation.

South Florida... most commonly known for its beautiful beaches, swaying palm trees, and amazing warm weather. Although all of that contributes to making it one of the best places to live year round, a lot more goes on down here. Being from Boca Raton has shown me an entire lifestyle that I love, appreciate, and would never want to give up. Here are some things that Boca Raton residents would truly understand.

1. Juice Bars are on every other corner.

2. There is a big difference between East and West Boca.

3. You or one of your friends is a member of a country club.

4. Disney World and Universal Studios are weekend excursions.

5. Halloween Horror Nights is an annual must.

6. I’m sure your grandparents, aunt, uncle, or cousin also lives there.

7. Our “snow day” is known as a hurricane day. (And the hurricane is not always real.)

8. The weather is a consistent 80 degrees.

9. The Miami Heat was your favorite basketball team at one point.

10. Publix. Pub-subs and free Publix cookies are life.

11. The rain only lasts for five minutes, don’t bother bringing an umbrella.

12. Ultra Music Festival is one of the best weekends of the year.

13. The ocean may be your backyard.

14. If not, you definitely have a pool…that you rarely use.

15. Snowbirds are a real thing, and you know when they have arrived.

16. Having a boat is just as common as owning a car.

17. Jogging, pilates, yoga, and spinning are in your daily routine because everyone is in shape or working on getting in shape.

18. You live in a gated community.

19. I live where you vacation.

20. And I would not want to live anywhere else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
