Recently, the movie ‘The Greatest Showman’ premiered and has received great reviews. However, after talking to many of my peers, they confess to me that the reason they refuse to see the film is because it is a musical. There is this stigma that musicals are “lame” or not some peoples’ “thing,” however this movie is different. I am here to prove to you that musicals can be ‘cool’ and ‘entertaining.’ You should see this movie so that it opens your eyes to a world where boundaries are tested and love has no rules.

First, the love stories in the movie are beautiful and powerful. Both of these relationships are not socially acceptable and were shamed into hiding their love for one another. Their stories defy all odds and show that it does not matter what background you come from, love is love. Society and their prejudices should not have the power to tear people apart.

Secondly, to go off on the judgements, this movie promotes self-confidence. It seems that in the beginning, the circus started for people to come to laugh and make fun of people of all shape and sizes. To point out the people that are different, however, in this film, they put these individuals under the spotlight to praise them for their differences. Being different is an amazing thing that other people would like to see and be apart of. They took on a new spin on a circus: come and see these extraordinary people that have intriguing abilities. Highlight differences, not shame them.

Lastly, the music. I understand that some people do not find it entertaining when characters in movies decide to sing instead of talk, but that is what makes this movie more lively. It pulls the audience in with a beginning number that sets the stage for the movie and its characters. Then, these songs close off the film and tie all of the stories together with powerful voices and instruments all moving together in perfect harmony. Music moves us all in different ways, allow this movie and the soundtrack to move you.

This movie promotes love and diversity through incredible music. Seeing these stories and characters power through the uproar of others and ignoring prejudice opinions is such a beautiful site to see that it brings tears to viewers eyes. But do not take my opinion for it, see it yourself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
