The new year is often known for being a time for people to set resolutions for themselves. These resolutions can be anything from weight loss to just being happy. Often times the news years resolutions are forgotten within a month, which is sad because they normally have good endings. But, for those that keep with it, News Year's Resolutions are a great thing to set. These are seventeen New Year's Resolutions that anyone can keep.

1. Spend more time with your family

In the past year if you have spent more time with friends, then spending more time with your family over the new year is a great resolution.

2. Sign up for a gym membership

If your resolution is to lose weight then maybe your first step in the new year is to sign up at a local gym, and then work on the weight part.

3. Try a new restaurant every month

If your resolution is to get out there and try new things then trying a new restaurant every month is a good start.

4. Smile more this year

Being happy is hard, but starting by smiling more is a good way to increase your happiness (or at least look happier).

5. Cook at least one meal a week

If you are the type of person that eats out more than eating at home then cooking at home once a week may be a good resolution for you.

6. Say something nice to someone every day

Being nice can be a struggle, so this new year just try your hardest to say something nice to one person every day. That will make everyone a little bit happier.

7. Try a new sport

Whether you are athletic or not, trying a new sport for a year is a good way to expand your knowledge and it will help you stay healthy for the year.

8. Take up a new hobby

A hobby is a good way to release stress and it will allow you to learn more about something.

9. Raise money for a nonprofit for a year

Slowly raising money for a year can be a good resolution for anyone, especially if there is a cause that means something to you.

10. Listen to a new style of music

If you are accustomed to listening to one type of music then get out of your comfort zone and try something different.

11. Read one joke a day

Laughter is the best medicine and reading one joke (even if it’s a bad joke) is a good resolution for anyone trying to be happier.

12. Meet new people

Meeting new people is a good way to make friends, and allows you to expand your friend group. Life will never be boring with new friends.

13. Find a way to make money

I think we can all agree that making money is better than losing money.

14. Watch less TV

If you are a couch potato then turning off the TV is a good resolution.

15. Find a significant other

Let’s be real here, you’ll probably end up single at the end of the year.

16. Start dressing better

If you have been lazy and just been throwing on any sweatpants you see then dressing better this year may be a good resolution for you.

17. Learn a new language

Language brings people together.
