Netflix released "The Haunting of Hill House" in October, and if you still haven't seen it, now is the time.
I absolutely love scary movies. I used to watch movie after movie in Netflix's horror section, figuring out which ones were worth watching, which ones actually scared me, and which movies were far too gory to watch again. As soon as I saw the advertisements for "The Haunting of Hill House," I was more than excited.
With the stress of midterms and piles of schoolwork, the month of October had passed, and I hadn't gotten around to watching the horror movie. However, now that Thanksgiving break is in full swing, I had plenty of time to binge-watch the show with my family.
It may have taken all day--literally all day--but we finished the full season, all 10 episodes, back to back. And there was still time left in the day to go get dinner.
Out of every scary movie I have ever seen, "The Haunting of Hill House" is by far the BEST horror movie/TV show I've ever seen. I won't give away any spoilers, so even if you haven't seen it, you can keep reading.
The plot behind the movie is unlike every horror film out there, which says a lot considering every movie seems to have the same storyline. This show, unlike others, has you invested in the characters and wanting to know everything that happens next, not just waiting for the next jump-scare.
Speaking of jump-scares, this show is FULL of them. While none of us scare very easily, the show had the four of us college students screaming at the top of our lungs, grabbing onto each other to try and stay safe. It scared us so bad, that when we had gone to dinner later that night, we were constantly checking behind us and around corners "just to be safe."
Now that I'm back home and it's the last little bit of time before I'll have to study for exams, I'm going to re-watch the entire show. It's hard for me to watch certain movies over and over, but this one is definitely an exception.
Halloween has definitely come and gone and the year is slowly coming to an end, but this show is still on Netflix and is begging to be watched.
Besides, what better way to spend the holidays than wrapped up under a cozy blanket on the couch with your family, screaming and jumping from how scared you are?
