I don't know about you, but something feels off about this holiday season. Maybe it's the fact that I haven't left my house much in the last few months or been able to see my friends, but I have not been in the holiday spirit. No matter what though, the holidays are coming fast and I sure don't want to miss out on them. That being said, I've come up with five things you can do with friends or by yourself during this upcoming holiday season while still being safe.

Socially Distanced In The Snow

Now that the weather is getting colder, now is the time for snowball fights and sledding. These are perfect activities for this year because not only can you do them from a safe distance, but safely wearing your mask will also keep you warm!

Virtual Holiday Movie Night

Enjoy a fun twist on the traditional movie night by doing it virtually so you can have fun and be safe at the same time. I know Netflix Party (now Teleparty) has been a big quarantine activity this year, and using it for holiday movies is even better. Queue up some of your favorite festive movies and watch them with your friends online.

Here's another classic quarantine activity that can be easily made festive. For those who don't know, this activity basically involves making a funny PowerPoint presentation and showing it to your friends (in this case something holiday-themed). Share your screen on Zoom and you'll all be able to appreciate the hilarious yet informative content your friends came up with.

Here are some possible topic ideas to get you started: Which Holiday Movie Would Each Friend Belong In, Ranking The Most Popular Holiday Songs, What Your Favorite Holiday Dish Says About You, How Each Friend Would (Or Wouldn't) Decorate Their Future House For The Holidays

It's pretty hard to not be in a holiday spirit while you're trying to put frosting on a sliding gingerbread house.

For those of you who are competitive like me, you can always turn this activity into a little friendly competition. If you decide to this activity with someone else, whether virtually or with someone you live with, post the results up on your social media and let your followers decide who they think had the best end-result.

Decorate

Whether it's you room or house, nothing can force you into the holiday spirit like being surrounded by the decorations of your choice. Not only will these decorations continue to remind you of the holiday spirit, but putting them up is a fun activity all on its own too. Play some of your favorite holiday music and come up with some creative new ways to decorate.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
