On Valentine's Day, there is a high chance that couples will enjoy a nice dinner, send gifts, and remind each other about how happy they are together. Along with that comes watching a movie on Netflix or another streaming service. The film is most likely going to be a romantic comedy or chick flick that many guys will have a difficult time getting through. There is a solution to enjoying a good film without the suffering that goes with it. Here are 10 romantic movies with enough funny situations that even guys will want to watch during the holiday.

1. "Love Actually"

This is one of the films that guys will enjoy watching because there is no crazy drama, bizarre love triangles, or bad acting. The movie is centered on 10 different love stories including close friendships, family connections, and romantic encounters. The mix of comedy and the strengthening of bonds create a film that couples might want to make a tradition every Valentine's Day.

2. "Jerry Maguire"

Here is a classic romantic comedy that includes something that many guys seem to enjoy (besides pizza, beer, and frat parties) during their college years: sports. When you mix that with the hilarious escapades of Tom Cruise and Cuba Gooding Jr., the result is a movie that tells a great story about how love can help a guy change and improve as a person.

3. "Say Anything"

This one tells another story about relationships that couples actually relate (obviously since it was directed by Cameron Crowe who also made "Jerry Maguire") and connect with. Instead of just telling a cliche romance movie about first loves, this film is also a coming-of-age story. Couples will understand the problems that they need to overcome, while men specifically will recognize that it takes growth and commitment to understand the needs of someone they care about.

4. "Silver Linings Playbook"

Any guy who is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles or Jennifer Lawrence will like this movie. Not only because the film was shot in Philadelphia (in just 33 days), but just like "Jerry Maguire," it does a wonderful job of combining romance with sports. The story involves two people who are dealing with issues in their lives (physically and mentally) and they need to overcome their problems by being there for each other, just like real couples learn how to do.

5. "Garden State"

College girls and guys will like this movie since it's centered on discovering who you are. For couples who are starting a relationship in which either person is struggling to appreciate their lives, this is a great movie. It is a romance film, but has a deeper meaning than that. Each person that sees it has a different reaction about love, and that is something that makes this movie so interesting.

6. "(500) Days of Summer"

This movie is unlike other romance films, which makes it a good watch. Guys and their girlfriends will like it since the movie revolves around finding love, heartbreak, and staying in a relationship. The film itself tries to reveal the meaning of love, but even if those who are viewing it might have their own description, it is something that cannot really be defined.

7. "Definitely, Maybe"

Although this movie qualifies as a chick flick, there is no reason for guys to panic. Sure, there is more romance, but the emotions and humor delivered by Ryan Reynolds (exactly why he made an excellent "Deadpool") make this film a classic. Also, couples will be able to relate to the connection that is made with Reynold's character and the girl that he meets.

8. "In Good Company"

This movie contains a variety of talented actors, including Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace (occasionally), and Scarlett Johannson, but the story is what makes this film enjoyable to watch by both girls and guys. Compared to other romance movies, this one does not focus entirely on the chemistry between friends or the relationships themselves but understanding the things that people need the most in life.

9. "Safety Not Guarenteed"

If couples are looking for a romantic comedy movie that is fun and ordinary, this is the one. The scenes are more realistic than most chick flicks, and men can relate to the same feelings they get when discovering love for the first time.

10. "The Wedding Singer"

Even if you are not a fan of Adam Sandler movies (he used to be funnier), this is one of his best performances that is worth checking out. Sandler combines humor and romance in a well-told story that will surprise audiences since he is known for many bizarre comedies now. The movie is sweet and fun, with funny moments, and has a nice playlist of music, which will give couples a desire to laugh and dance along. If you take all of that (plus a cameo by Billy Idol), you've got yourself an enjoyable romantic comedy that is perfect for Valentine's Day or movie night.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
