We've all seen and heard about the cultural phenomenon Riverdale is. It caught viewer's attention since it started airing at the beginning of 2017.
Despite how shitty your year may have been thus far, Riverdale can make up for all those bad months, trust me. I have some excellent evidence to prove this statement.
I watched the first season twice—illegally online while it aired on CW, then on Netflix after it had been posted the day after season 1 ended. Then, 7 months later, the show returned. And more wicked and darker than ever.
The show's first season starts following the mysterious murder of Jason Blossom after his body is found floating in Sweet Water River months after his disappearance. Our main characters,—Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead—set out to find who the killer is, finding love and dark pasts surrounding their families.
So I decided to share some of my favorite moments from this show. There'll be spoilers, just to let you know. Consider yourself warned. But if you had seen this show thus far, I hope we are on the same page.
1. Beronica
To be more precise, it is when Veronica and Betty try out to be part of Cheryl's Vixens. After their try out, Cheryl is anything but pleased, so Veronica jumps in saying they're not done yet. And she kisses Betty as their grand try-out finale.
Shocked, Cheryl only accepts Veronica as a part of the Vixens, which launches Veronica into one of her best speeches that silences Cheryl. With this little speech of hers, she also makes Betty get a position in the Vixens. From this moment, I knew I would love this duo and the show.
2. Jughead punching Chuck
Ok, Cole Sprouse getting the chance to be badass? And also seeing Jughead defend Betty from a football player, even though he was buffer, taller, and stronger? Jughead deserves all the credit in the world here.
Also, my love for this ship grew tremendously at this point.
3. Mama Cooper serving looks
After spending a season and a half bashing the South Side Serpents, Alice Cooper turned out to be one herself.
After Betty shared this secret to the world, Alice embraced that side she had hid for years. How she did it? Well, she wore a dress that looks made of serpent scales, a snake around her neck, and some scaly high heels to a huge event hosted by the Lodge family. Everyone turned heads to stare at the beacon Alice Cooper was in that moment. And what made the scene even better? Imagine Dragons playing in the background.
4.Burning of Thorn Hill
This show itself is pretty dramatic, but when Cheryl burnt down her house? This scene was the epitome of drama, and I am a sucker for dramatic scenes. And the way it was shot? Even more dramatic.
Also, on a side note: while looking for a cool gif, I encountered an article saying: Did Cheryl Blossom kill Nana Blossom when she burned Thorn Hill?
That's a really good speculation. What do you think?
5. Ms. Grundy's Death
Okay, was I the only one happy about this scene? I mean, I knew she was going to come back, but not to be killed?!?! I despised her since the very first episode and seeing the way she died pumped me for season 2. Call me a sadist or whatever, but this is one of my favorite scenes.
Coming up with this list was way too hard. I pretty much love every scene of this show. Like the first time Bughead kissed? Or like that moment when they jumped between Archie and Veronica to Betty and Jughead while Believer played in the background? This show just keeps getting better and better, and I can't wait to see how this season is going to end.
I bet it will be as hooking as the end of season 1. After all, they ended with a bang! Alright, I'll just leave now.
