Reasons we love Orlando

Reviving the Early 2000s Heartthrob: Orlando Bloom

In honor of the final "Hobbit" movie premiering a few weeks ago, I thought it would be appropriate to write my article on Orlando Bloom, or Legolas Greenleaf.  The long-haired immortal elf does not appear in "The Hobbit" novel, but director Peter Jackson decided to add him into the movies, making them more direct prequels to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Most famously known for his role as Legolas in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Will Turner in "The Pirates of the Caribbean" in the early 2000s, Orlando Bloom has again been thrust into the starlight through his role in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Battle of Five Armies." Because of his immense success playing these roles, Bloom should be casted for other Hollywood blockbusters.

Why we want to see more Orlando:

1. His killer British accent. One word: sexy.

2. His chiseled jaw and flawless face, duh.

3. His role as two extremely badass characters, Legolas and Will Turner.

4. He does most of his own stunts, and even broke some of his ribs while jumping onto a horse while playing Legolas. He refrains from using a stunt double despite having broken his back from falling three stories from a terrace in his teens.

5. While filming "Kingdom of Heaven" in Morocco, he rescued and adopted a stray dog, which is now his pet named “Sidi.”

6. He is an environmental activist and been a part of Global Green since the early 2000s. Solar energy powers his London house that is made mostly with recycled materials.

7. He has been named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He has visited Nepal on multiple occasions to help in education and sanitations programs.

8. He is a practicing Buddhist. That’s not awesome or anything…

9. He received the 2,521st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Much deserved.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
