A Review Of "One Of Us Is Lying"

This novel was so hyped up, and after checking it out here’s what I have to say

This book had such an amazing build up. I completed the book in under a week especially with such a hectic work and school schedule, and I must say...bravo. I think each of the characters were cliché, you know? First we have the smart “need to be” perfect girl Bronwyn, followed by our typical bad boy persona Nate, then the jock, Cooper, whom everyone is a fiend for, and finally Addy. The pretty girl who’s all lovey dovey with her man. With every chapter they each seemed to grow on me. Of course none of them were perfect, but they each had little things about themselves that made them stand out and that’s what I enjoyed. I won’t include spoilers, but I’ll say that the title gives readers false hope.

Personally I think the build up was great. This book was such a page turner that I’d read it during class and take it with me in the bathroom. Yeah, it had me on the edge of my seat for like three days straight. Bots and pieces remind me of And Then There Were None, Pretty Little Liars, and I also get 13 Reasons Why vibes as well.

I think that the way the “real killer” of Simon was revealed was just too easy and expected. I enjoyed the read overall, but I was disappointed because of the ending. I must say that it was very relatable character wise because I’m sure many readers out there would be able to at least relate to one of the four main characters or should I say suspects. I also liked the language and I thought it was very accurate being that I’m young enough to know how folks my age speak.

If I was an actual book reviewer this one would get an 8/10. Ms. McManus we need more! Follow up with a part two! And if it’s true about the t.v. show being based off of the book, maybe switch up the ending a little bit, we need a wild cliffhanger of some sort! That would be so dope.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
