Every person understands the thought of losing a loved one long before their time. This imaginary thought process is incomprehensible. The death of children is something most people grapple to understand.
For the Evans family in London, this concept has become their reality. If you haven't heard or seen the story of the Evans family you can find it here. Alfie, their son, was in a semi-vegetative state and the government decided it was in his best interest to stop life support. They filed petitions fighting for the life of their child, even petitioning the Supreme Court of the UK. Little Alfie's parents were willing to stop at nothing to try and find solutions for medical treatment that might improve his condition. The passing of their beloved son is tragic but their battle for life transcends their loss.

Their story is an example of fighting for life, no matter what stage it is in. Unlike some people who would have just pulled the plug, this family fought this battle through to the end and is an incredible example of fighting for life despite the circumstances. Their actions remind us that life is sacred; life is to be revered. One thing that the March for Our Lives movement should remind us of is that we need to stand up against those who are willingly prepared to take lives from the innocent.
Regardless of what may be in the news, we need to focus on what we can learn to help better ourselves and those around us. No matter what our religious or political affiliations may be, our focus should be on the importance of life. We must fight to preserve life, wherever we are, regardless of what stage of life that may be. All lives should be celebrated and treated as equal.
As Christ followers, we need to be proactive to engage the people around us in protecting life. The foundation of what we believe is built upon the value that not one person is of less value than another. All people are broken, deserve to be loved, and are in need of a savior. As mankind we are all created, image bearers of God (Genesis 1:27) and we must strive to live in such a way that reminds people that all lives matter. The biggest thing that we can learn from the story of Alfie Evans is that all life is worth fighting for, no matter what color, shape, or size.
