Reclaiming Text: A Reintroduction to Reading
Nichole Cooper

When you become a mother, a good bit of your time becomes consumed with crazy long daggers called fingernails and midnight screaming fits. All of a sudden, you find yourself lost in a world where your hobbies and sanity have flown out the window. Well... Here I am, looking to regain my sanity in the tiniest of places.

I've spent a large portion of my life with my nose in a book. I have always loved the idea of spending my time invested in the world of those within books. So finding myself without a book in my hand came as a surprise once I finally had the time to notice. As my stack of books "to read" grew steadily, I realized that I needed to find my way back to my favorite place.

Over the past year, I set a goal for myself, that I found out wasn't as realistic as I had hoped. However, the eleven books I managed to read this year were a great beginning to broadening my reading horizons now that I'm more than just myself:

1. "Going Bovine" by Libba Bray - 2/5

2. "Life and Other Near-Death Experiences" by Camille Pagan - 5/5

3. "The Man in the High Castle" by Phillip K Dick - 6/5

4. "Monster Nation" by David Wellington - 1/5
This book was terrible.

5."Us" by Michael Kimball - 4/5
I wanted to finish reading this book. However, due to the recent passing of my grandmother, I was unable to finish.

6. "Misery" by Stephen King - 5/5
I'm biased. I love Stephen King. I'm slowly working towards reading everything he's ever written.

7. "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls - 4/5

8. "This is Where I Leave You" by Jonathan Tropper - 5/5

9. "I Am The Messenger" by Markus Zusak - 3/5

10. "Girl, Interrupted" by Susanna Kaysen- 4/5

11. "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline - 5/5

If anyone would like to ask questions, or talk to me about any book listed, please feel free to contact me. I'm a wealth of book knowledge. I'm also good for book recommendations.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
