The 19th annual Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California was held these past two weekends and it did not disappoint. This is a festival that everyone wants to attend at least once and maybe get a chance to brush shoulders with Kendall Jenner or Hailey Baldwin.

This festival attracts many famous people, maybe because of the hot sun, cute outfits, or that Beyoncé was the headline this year. Many celebrities, according to Instagram posts, attended Coachella this year like Katy Perry, Jennifer Hudson, Sia, Paris Hilton and Vanessa Hudgens. First, you’ll just need $399 for a general admission to attend and that’s for each weekend; no big deal, but from pictures, it may be worth it.

Even though Coachella is known for being a music festival, it also hosts many different artists who make original art pieces. Many Instagram posts at Coachella usually feature artistic displays which is why the festival searches far and wide to include many different artists who come from different backgrounds just like the people attending the festival.

Some of the artists featured this year include Randy Polumbo who created the “Lodestar” which is a floral composition made from a Lockheed Martin Lodestar jet and NEWSUBSTANCE who created “Spectra” which is an art installation you enter to experience a seven-story spectrum of color with an observation deck offering 360-degree views of Coachella and beyond.

Genres from R&B, rap, hip-hop, indie and EDM were amongst the variety of music Coachella hosted; giving people music from all ends of the spectrum. LANY, The Weekend, SZA, Cardi B, Post Malone, Eminem, HAIM and KITTENS were only a few of over 100 artists who performed at Coachella this year. But all eyes were on Beyoncé these past two weekends making her the first African America female artist to headline Coachella, just breaking more barriers as she always does.

Queen B had an army of backup dancers who had their own outfit change from yellow to pink during Beyoncé’s performance from the first to the second weekend of the festival. Thanks to Balmain, Beyoncé herself had multiple outfit changes and Oliver Rousteing, creative director of Balmain was proud to show his work off on Instagram.

Beyoncé brought many of her loved ones on stage to perform with her such as her sister, Solange Knowles performing a little dance off, Jay-Z was another who performed on stage with Bey and the biggest throwback of all Destiny’s Child, which was an unexpected surprise for the crowd. Beyoncé revealed it took a good 6 months of rehearsals to put everything together perfectly. The only downer is Beyoncé won’t be back to do it again this weekend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
