"This is Us" is an NBC drama that premiered last fall. After debuting an emotional rollercoaster of a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hljQfJLQmaItrailer in the Spring of 2016, the show debuted and brought many viewers, including me, to tears. And tears. And more tears. With a mind blowing twist at the end of episode one, it was hard not to tune into to episode after episode, each time with more tissues in hand. Here's just a few reasons why I love this show so very much:
1. Jack Pearson
The Pearson family patriarch played by the beautiful human Milo Ventimiglia (known from Gilmore Girls and Heroes fame) is the perfect television character. He represents a perfectly imperfect man who loves his wife, kids, and life and grows with each passing moment.
2. Beck and Jack's Relationship
The relationship between Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is so beautiful and realistic. They have their ups and downs, but at the end of the day they love one another above all. The chemistry between Moore and Ventimiglia is some next level stuff. I love them. They are goals.
3. Jack Pearson
He loves his wife so much. I feel like I need to constantly reiterate this point, guys. So much love. Also, he gets bonus points for looking phenomenal with any amount of facial hair.
4. The Big Three
The three children born to Rebecca and Jack on August 31st, 1980. They each have their flaws and they embrace them.
5. Jack Pearson
Sorry, I can't help myself.
6. The time travel aspect
Seeing Jack and Beck meet and get married? Yes please. Thank you for taking me back in time, This is Us. Makes the show so much more than it already was. Also, pass the tissues please.
7. Jack Pearson
Like, the writing on this show is great and all, but for this man it is revolutionary.
8. The younger versions of the Big Three
Kevin, Kate, and Randall each are potrayed by an 8 year old version of themselves and a high school aged version. These kids not only look almost identical to their grown up versions, but also are delightful to watch on screen. I love the flashbacks to the siblings in high school espeically because those kids are a hoot.
9. Jack Pearson
Dad of the freaking century.
10. Randall and Beth's kids
In the last episode, "Deja Vu", Annie, Randall's youngest daughter made me ball like a baby as she persauded William (Ron Cerphas Jones) in a flashback to stay in their crazy house because he may regret it if he didn't. These girls are the absolute sweetest and are a perfect combo of their neurotic father and badass mother.
11. Jack Pearson
I am in love with this man.
12. The sibling relationships
I'm not crying, you're crying. Except we're both definitely crying as Kevin consoles Randall or Kate and Kev have a twin heart to heart or any time all three kids are in a scene together.
13. Jack Pearson
It ain't Thanksgiving til Pilgrim Rick shows up.
14. Mandy Moore's hairsytles through the decades
Mandy Moore is annoyingly gorgeous through every decade. Hair inspiration for years.
15. And finally, Jack Pearson
Ugh, I love you, Jack Pearson.
Watch this stupidly sad show every Tuesday at 9 on NBC. You'll thank (hate) me later.
