8 Reasons Why It Truly Is "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"

Andy Williams really knew what he was talking about in the song, "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year".

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, a popular Christmas song originally by Andy Williams, is one of the first signs that it’s finally time to get into the Christmas spirit! This welcoming of the holiday season includes “parties for hosting” and, of course, “marshmallows for toasting”, but that’s not all! The argument that this truly is the most wonderful time of the year is one that can be expanded upon. That being said, here are just a few reasons why this season is simply the best.

1. Strangers greet one another in a more cheerful way

People feel compelled to be more friendly around this time. Why we are more likely to wish someone a great holiday? Beats me, but let’s enjoy it while it lasts!

2. People are in the mood to be more generous

Whether it be the perfect present for a loved one, some pocket change for a charity, or a “secret santa” exchange, there is just something about the holidays that makes donations or gift-giving so much more satisfying.

3. Families come together

No matter which holiday(s) you celebrate, this time of year is sure to bring families closer. Decorating the tree together, exchanging gifts, the food, and just being around loved ones is a priceless present.

4. Seasonal songs!

Though they tend to get stuck in our heads and drive us crazy until next year, cheery Christmas songs change the biggest of frowns upside down! “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” itself is a pretty good mood-booster.

5. Ornaments, lights, and tinsel, oh my!

Okay, so this one can be a bit of a hassle, but pays off in the end. Sure it can be a struggle to untangle yourself from a string of lights, but decorating the tree is a great way to “spruce” up the place (see what I did there?) and bring some joy into your home.

6. Warm beverages

Pumpkin spice may be retiring for the season, but do not fear, for peppermint is here! A nice warm cup of peppermint flavored hot chocolate or tea really hits the spot after a long day of sledding and building forts to protect yourself from snowballs.

7. Snow days (no school)!

This one also has the potential to be a struggle due to all the shoveling, but who doesn’t love a few snowflakes to really get you into the spirit? Plus, the kids love to play in the snow almost as much as they love having a day off from school.

8. Snuggle weather is upon us!

A special someone or pet is a great companion to sit by the fire with and watch some good ol’ classic holiday movies. As it gets colder and colder, it’s great to cling onto a loved one tighter and tighter.

Of course there are many, many other reasons why this time of the year is the best, but the list would go on and on until next December! The only thing that can ruin this is a spot on Santa’s naughty list! This time of the year has the capability of restoring our faith in humanity as we all treat one another with more respect and kindness. Hopefully one day we will have “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” last the whole year, but until then, happy holidays!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
