12 Reasons To Look Forward To Fall

.

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte Season!

The epitome of fall.

2. Apple Cider.... for those crazies who don't drink Pumpkin Spice.

Bonus points if you drink it in front of the next item on this list!

3. Bonfires galore!

Because nothing smells better than bonfire smoke, nor is there a better setting to tell scary stories and sing with a guitar on an autumn night.

4. College Football

Nothing says fall in the south quite like college football (LET'S GO BLUE!!!)

5. Haunted Houses

If you're lucky, you won't pee yourself. Speaking from experience here.... oops.

6. Carving Pumpkins (and eating pumpkin pie!)

Sometimes you make jack-o-lanterns. Sometimes you make pumpkin seeds. Sometimes you make homemade pumpkin pie. Sometimes you put babies in them for fall photo shoots. The possibilities are truly endless.

7. Halloween (the best holiday of the year)

The more, the merrier. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE loves Halloween. Shy but want to be seen? Dress up for Halloween. Secretly a nerd but don't want anyone know about your love for classic comic books? Dress up for Halloween. Super into special effects makeup? H A L L O W E E N.

8. No More 90 Degree Days (Hopefully)

Which also means that you get to wear cute clothing! Scarves and flannels and boots and hats and a coffee in hand= perfection.

9. Thanksgiving!

Family, football, turkey, yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, fudge, beer, apple cider, ALL OF THE GOOD FOOD.

10. Black Friday (and the beginning of pre-Christmas jitters!)

When you leave the comfort of your home within hours of being thankful for what you have to go spend money and fight long lines for sales... to get the perfect gifts for the family you left at home.

11. The First Snow

The last breath of fall as winter takes over. A slightly sad moment for some, but the excitement of the winter holidays being RIGHT around the corner!

12. And Lastly....

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
