Sorry Not Sorry, But Books Are Almost Always Better Than Movies

I can think of a handful of books that I wish were never turned into movies.

Sorry Not Sorry, But Books Are Almost Always Better Than Movies

I've been an avid reader since I started to read. I was always ahead of where I was supposed to be as far as my reading level in school. I can't tell you how many books I have read over the years. Several of the books that I used to read as a kid have turned into movies, but that isn't always a good thing.

One of my favorite book series of all time is "Harry Potter".I am reading the series again after several years, and it's crazy how many differences there are between the books and the movies that I realize now as an adult.

I absolutely love the "Harry Potter"movies, and I think they are incredibly well made. How can you not watch them and like them? I don't understand how people can say they aren't worth watching. It's funny to be able to read lines from the books and then read them with the movie scenes in my head. There are so many things they left out. Only true Harry Potter fans would know what I was talking about.

But despite that being said, I couldn't imagine them not being turned into movies. That is one book series I would let slide that it didn't match the book perfectly. But, the title of the article is that the books are almost always better than the movies, and yes, the Harry Potter books are better than the movies.

One book example that I think isn't better than the movie is "Carrie"by Stephen King. I read the books several years ago when I was in high school, and it was good, but I think they really outdid themselves with the movie. Chloë Grace Moretz starred as Carrie White, and I have watched that movie endless times. Way better than the 1976 version if I do say so myself.

Another way that books are almost better is that you can read the words of the book and have so much imagination. The characters can look any way you want, and you can get entirely lost in the book and it never ends. With a movie, you watch it, and your imagination can't be as wild with it because the characters have already been decided for you.

But sometimes, the movie is exactly what you were imagining, and all your visions come to life.

I'm sure you're reading this and pondering in some deep thoughts about some movies that just don't live up to the books, or vice versa. I could probably sit here all day and come up with several examples of movies that just don't measure up to the workings of the books, but I will sit here and let your own mind run wild of the possibilities.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
