It's after spring break - midterm scores have been returned and, honestly, the semester is taking way to long to be over. A smattering of cold days still rolls around despite it being spring. If you are struggling to get through the last month of school, here are a couple things to change up your routine.

1. Find a new place to study

We've all been there, in the library in and out. The same stale air circulating as you reread the same passage. Exploring the campus once again can lead to the discovery of lovely niches you wouldn't have found by staying in the same spot. It will literally be a breath of fresh air if you change up your daily library location.

2. Eat with a different group of people

Everyone has their set friend's group that they grab lunch with or an on-the-go option. Instead of deciding to sit alone join a group of people you don't usually talk to or know well. Meeting new people has a way of making everything feel new. It also makes it feel like the beginning of a new semester or year.

3. Talk to someone new in your class

Talking to new people in one of your classes has the same effect as eating with a different group of people. You can gain a new perspective on the class and they might show you some tricks they use to remember that one topic. You can form a plan to study with them (which also switches up your usual study routine) and even grab a meal with them. It's killing two birds with one stone.

4. Go to an event you wouldn't go to otherwise

Extend your college (and life!) experience by doing something new on campus. Your new friend from that one class may have invited you or you were slightly interested by the posters around campus. Whatever the case, deciding to go to an event gives you something to look forward to during the week. It's a welcomed break. Plus, looking forward to an event always makes the week go by faster.

5. Spend more time outside

The weather is warming up which creates the perfect opportunity to soak up some vitamin D and feel happier. You sit inside for classes, but having a light breeze blow by while you read your textbook makes study time feel slightly more bearable. Those flawless green quads with the college students spread out all over had to come from somewhere. The beautiful weather is a reminder of the even more sunny days to come.

A simple change in routine can make campus feel like a different place. Whether you decide to do one or all of these options, the post-spring break weeks will be over before you know it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
