I grew up on the music of four guys from Liverpool known as The Beatles. They were my first love in music and they're the only reason I ever did anything that had to do with music. They are widely considered to be the best musical group of all time and the most influential. I often think that if it weren't for them, a lot of music wouldn't exist. The Beatles have got me through every time period in my life, good and bad, and I'm not alone in saying that. They are something to behold and they are something extremely beautiful.
Quincy Jones, the producer responsible for another groundbreaking artist, Michael Jackson, recently said that The Beatles were "the worst musicians in the world" and were "no-playing motherfuckers."
I'm not going to sit here and say that all four of them were the best at their respective music principles but to call them the worst is unbelievably ludicrous.
George Harrison, inspired by Chuck Berry, brought the position of electric guitarist to a whole new level and he is the owner of some of the most memorable riffs of all time. George was also a pretty solid songwriter, despite John Lennon and Paul McCartney writing most of the group's music. Guys like Eric Clapton are ahead of Harrison, but Harrison is still one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Ringo Starr wasn't the best drummer. Even John Lennon said that he wasn't even the best drummer in the band. But Ringo is a very interesting drummer because he was right-handed playing a left handed kit. His style of drumming was unique for that and also those type of drum patterns were crazy, and that's also a nod to the songwriting of Lennon and McCartney.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney, as a songwriting duo and the main vocalists, are amazing together. And let's not forget that Lennon could also play an array of instruments. McCartney is probably the best musician in the band, capable of playing literally everything, but most notably bass guitar. Quincy Jones called McCartney "the worst bassist ever." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? He's probably the best bass guitar player of all time!
The composition of The Beatles music displays all of their incredible talents. The guitar riffs, the bass riffs, the harmonies, the key changes, etc. It's all just so good. I know everyone gets their fair share of disrespect but this is extremely harsh and just not accurate.
And by the way, Prince was better than MJ, Mr. Jones.
