The biggest movie out right now is the sci-fi thriller, A Quiet Place. It was co-written and directed by John Krasinski (You might know him as Jim from The Office). Since Krasinski is most widely known for his comedic roles, it seems very out-of-character for him to make a horror film, but somehow, it works amazingly well. The story is about a family trying to survive in a world where you cannot make any loud noise or monsters will hunt and kill you. It is an insane and absolutely terrifying premise, and it is executed to perfection. Everything about this movie is praise-worthy, from the casting to the storyline, and even to the sound editing. If you're still not sold on it, here's a video of Chris Pratt freaking out right after seeing the movie (warning: language):

His reaction is very reasonable. I'll try to explain why this movie is so incredible without giving away any spoilers.

For starters, you're going to want to watch this movie in a theater. Around 90% of the movie is quiet, and sitting in a crowded theater where everyone is (quite literally) afraid to make a sound just adds to the suspense. Since you spend most of the movie in complete silence, when a sound finally does happen, it's the most alarming thing ever. You WILL jump in your seat. The silence is the most important part of the movie as it puts you mentally right there in the story with the family. It becomes almost too real to you, and it makes you too terrified to eat your popcorn for fear that your chewing might be too loud.

The movie even has another level of authenticity to it because John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, who play the husband and wife, are actually married in real life. He says in an interview that what made this film hit home with him the most was the fact that they had just had their second child when he first received the pitch for the movie. Since the movie's plot centers around the idea of how much parents are willing to endure for their children, he channeled his love for his children while writing and directing it. If you didn't love him before, you're going to love him once you see this movie.

One of the most important aspects of the film is the fact that the daughter is deaf. Deaf people have many obstacles to overcome in life as it is, but living in a world where hearing sound could be the difference between life and death, a whole new element of adversity is added. The daughter is played by up-and-coming actress Millicent Simmonds, who is deaf in real life as well. In certain parts of the film, you get a glimpse into her perspective, and all sound is completely removed from the scene. It is a chilling thought to know that if she accidentally made a sound that the monsters could hear, she might be unaware of it, and she would be gone in seconds.

The tension builds with every scene and makes you grip the armrests on your seat so hard that your knuckles turn white. It will definitely keep you hooked the entire time. Go see A Quiet Place if you haven't already!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
