It's definitely a saying that we have all heard at some point in our lives. But sometimes you can forget the importance behind putting your friends before other things in your life.
Put friends first because those are the people that are going to be there any time you don't feel like you are at your best. Those are the people who will be there to pick you up and remind you that you are amazing and deserve all of the happiness in the world. Those people will provide that happiness because they know what it means to you and they know that they would want it in return if they ever needed it.
Put friends first because that romantic relationship you're in may not last forever, but your friends will always be by your side. They will be there to pick you up from that break up and get you back out into the world. Never ignore the friendships you have for the boyfriend/girlfriend you just met. And never take those friendships for granted just because you have someone new in your life.
Put friends first because they know you better than anyone else. They know exactly what activities, tv shows, bands, anything you like and will always be around to show you new things you may like too. They are the people that will enjoy life with you and beside you and who will be there to guide you along the way.
Put friends first because ultimately they are putting you first. And you owe them that much back. It's the simplest way of thanking someone for being an important aspect in your life and growth. Actions really do speak louder than words, and putting friends first is a good way of expressing that.
Put friends first because you never know when they might not be around anymore. Never take a friendship for granted, because every moment is precious with that friend. Take pictures, write letters, create lasting memories with these people and tell them you love them and care about them as often as possible.
Put friends first because these are the people you actually get to choose to be around in life. Family is family but friends are who you really get to be yourself with. Your friends will always be like a second family to you, or in some cases, even like a first family. "Blood isn't what makes you family, it's what makes you related. Bonds are what make you family."
Put friends first.
