PSA: No One Cares How Busy You Are
Chic-Studies

It is second semester and the school is running out of time to do everything it put off the first semester. The weather is finally tolerable to venture outside, which means there are approximately a hundred things going on every day. Unless you live under a rock and do not take any serious classes, you are busy. Everyone is busy. I do not care if you are busy. I do not care that you have five meetings today, because so do I and so does the next person. Therefore, do not stop and tell me how incredibly busy you are.

Also, there is nothing I loathe more than the game “I’m busier than you.” No, you aren’t. As stated many times before, everyone is busy. Everyone has sh*t to do, and it isn't a competition of who has more. Even if you do, why does it matter? Does busiest get a prize? No, you just get less sleep. So, in fact, you lose. No one likes a sore loser -- which is what you are being. Stop competing with me about how much you are losing. Don’t wear your business as a badge of honor.

How would you like me to respond to all your ranting? Would an “I am so sorry for you” suffice? Well, I’m not sorry and I am not a liar. Do you really want me to vomit up my agenda book to you in reply? I refuse. I will not perpetuate the Negative Nancy cycle.

Another thing that nags my soul about people that find it necessary to whine about their schedule is their judgement of others and how they spend their time. If someone budgets their time differently than you, then that is their business. It does not mean they are less busy, or lazy, or just not doing their work; it means they have different priorities or value systems than you. Please, for the love of God, do not make snide comments about someone having fun and not doing constant work, like if an of-age person wants to partake in non-Quaker-like beverages. Let people be.

If you have this much time to complain, I wish you were busier. I wish you were so busy you did not have time to run your mouth to everyone who you can ensnare into a conversation about how busy you are. I certainly don't have time to hear you talk about nonsense, and I will not feel bad for you. No one feels bad for you! Zip, zero, null.

So please, please, please for all that is Holy, shut up and do what you have to do!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
