3 Protests Worth Fighting And Protesting About

These are topics that I actually care about

Everyone has something they are passionate about. Whether it be the rising cost of buying a house or the way people still treat women. You have to care about something if you are willing to go out and protest for it. These are just a few things that I think are definitely worth caring about.

1. Birth control

As a person who was diagnosed with being anemic the thought of birth control being taken away or charging obnoxious amounts to get this really pisses me off. I get people saying just don't have sex if you don't want a kid. There are a few issues with this though. The first being that birth control is not just for people having sex. Also who really cares who has sex or not? Like you’re going to put the fact that some people do not want kids into your own personal life?

You are screwing over people you don't even know all because they want to do the dirty without repercussions. Also, birth control gets prescribed by doctors to females whos cramps make them cry and throw up and actually want to die so they are not in pain of it anymore. I know people who have passed out from pain from cramps because they cannot afford the birth control that would make that issue completely disappear.

It also helps regulate periods. Meaning if you're anemic like me, you do not bleed 3 weeks out of the month anymore. Taking away birth control screws over most of the female population. NO UTERUS NO OPINION!

2. Gun control

With all the shootings all attention is on gun control. People want to take away the guns but the issue with this is that they are too integrated into today's society so they will never completely be gone. Instead of banning all guns they should do more background checks and make any owner go through a class of gun safety before purchasing them. Different levels of classes for the more dangerous guns.

3. Solar farms

This is a more personal protest for me. My town and the surrounding ones are all basically farmlands. A town over the solar companies want to use some of the land. Now, this would be a really amazing thing. Renewable energy and all. The issue come in with the fact the company is low key screwing over the farmers and the surrounding land. They don’t have a plan as to how the farms wouldn’t become flooded in the rain, meaning the solar panels would get fried and the farmer would have to pay for that.

They also demand the farmers do the maintenance to the solar panels which they are not trained to do. The farmers would need to pay for access roads to be built. The final blow is all the energy goes to one company that is already in control of basically all internet and landlines of the four towns.

This just gives them more power to overcharge everyone while they keep most of the energy and profits for themselves. They have basically monopolized the towns around mine and my town. I believe solar panel farms would be good but not under these conditions whatsoever.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
